Farmyard Animal Nursery 2016
On Melbourne Cup Tuesday, we had gorgeous sunshine, international tourists from the cruise liners, adults, kids and teenagers flocking to Holy Trinity's 3rd Farmyard Animal Nursery free community event.
The Farmyard featured old nursery favourites as well as first-timers such as a 6 week old calf, a turtle, goslings and Araucanas (chickens that lay blue eggs - which was witnessed at the event so this one ain't no nursery chick!). Even a hidden baby ring-tailed possum! Face-painting by Jinny was as popular as ever with the kids. Our event sponsor, Hunky Dory, treated visitors to delicious chips not once, but twice!
We had over 700+ visitors. Parents absolutely loved it and happy to have a local event they can bring their kids to. Very stylish looking visitors from the cruise liners were wowed by the charm of the event.
Tapping into the power of the event, left-over Fete Raffle tickets were sold and the new Kidz Church flyers were handed out. (if you would like to grab some Kidz Church flyers to share with others, you can pick some up at church).
Our young Farmyard Animal Nursery ambassador Jeremy has created a 21sec video of the event. To have a look, click FAN 2016

Desiderata - may be spoken during meditation
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be critical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.

Bible Study Program(go to top)
LENT is coming early this 2016 year:
Starting on February 10 with Easter on March 27th.
Iit is a common practice for Christians worldwide to prepare for the major festival of the Church's year with six weeks of reflection, renewal, commitment and bible study.
The studies this year will take two forms:
(a) a small group reflection and prayer group which will meet on Mondays at 5 and Tuesdays at 6 pm. and
(b) an individual study series which is done daily based on the prophets.
The group study is called "Walking with Jesus" and the individual studies are "Walking with the Prophets through Lent".
(These two studies come from the Melbourne Diocesan web site and are downloaded free of cost.)
I also have printed copies of both the studies available from the church office.
The group study will start on Monday, February 15 and Tuesday February 16; the individual study series can begin whatever day you want.
I hope many people will find time to do one of these studies and that you get great blessing from them.
