ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE WORK
The Parish Council is pleased to report that major electrical work has been carried out in the vicarage.  A new switchboard has been installed, all lights and power points checked and renewed, smoke alarms renewed and outside lighting repaired. In the church, front   signage is now backlit, there is security floodlighting in the car park and exterior BBQ area, and the Sunday School, shed and container area have security floodlighting.  It has been a costly exercise but essential work for safety and security -  $4000 - So please give generously to help pay for it!
We recommend POWER ELECTRICIANS who have done the work so efficiently.  Ring Justin Pritchard on 0433 260 637 for a quote.

LENTEN STUDIES
Our Lenten studies led by Barbara were very rewarding.  A small group gathered every Tuesday in the church at 6 pm during Lent.  The Gospel from the previous Sunday was studied and we were asked for our thoughts on these passages. It was amazing to hear individual interpretations of the particular often well known Gospel and much gentle and considerate discussion followed.  Many times Barbara’s knowledge untangled our thoughts and interpretations and individual expressions from the group often revealed a new look at a well loved and favourite passage.  The fellowship of the group was one of the greatest gifts.

LENT
Lent is a penitential season in preparation for Easter. The order of the Liturgy is changed in Lent - there are no Alleluias, the Gloria is not said or sung and instead the Trisagion on Page 121 is said. The Preparation, the Words of Scripture, the Prayer of Approach, the Confession and Absolution are all said in the centre of the Eucharist.  The Second Sentence is said where there is an option, and the Anthems and Invitation to Communion on Page 146 are used. There are no flowers in Lent and the liturgical colour is blue or purple, holy pictures and objects and icons are veiled in Holy Week.  Lent is a more meditative and reflective season of the church year and the liturgy tries to encourage this sense and atmosphere.
