NEWS FROM CHRISSA K. – AUSTRALIAN BALLET STAR
Chrissa writes from Sydney: “Rehearsals have been intense, I did my first performance on Wednesday May 3.  What can I say? It was both terrifying and exciting.  Everything went well, thank God, and thank you for your prayers. Taking my curtain call was surreal. On this stage again after 40 years! I love the role and I love performing it. I get very emotional as it also tells my story. Casting for Melbourne has not yet been released but I will let you know as soon as there are more details” – Chrissa.
See the Sydney Daily Telegraph of April 30 for a full story and other comments.

AN EASTER REFLECTION - Good Friday April 14, 2017
Every so often life brings you a moment so beautiful, so moving, that it brings you to your knees with emotions so overwhelming that you abandon all other.

So, that is what this Good Friday 2017 at Holy Trinity Church Port Melbourne, Stations of the Cross, brought to me.

Here in this simple Church bereft of all decoration, our Pastor Noel, in his simple black cassock, quietly standing facing his small congregation, without pictures or ceremony, lead us along Jesus’ journey that fateful day, with his deeply felt description of each station and the most wonderful poetic response by Christy Kenneally (Irish poet and writer).

I was blessed that day with knowledge of how Jesus walks with me, through my own Stations of the Cross, in my journey called life.

Thank you Noel for the blessing of truly feeling the loving hand of God.

With deep appreciation,   Anne E.

LENTEN STUDIES 2017
A number of parishioners attended the five x weekly sessions.  Not everyone came to every session, but that didn’t matter.
The study group was an interaction of ideas and interpretation as well as fellowship.
We met on a Tuesday night during Lent from 6.30 until 7.30 pm.  We read the Gospel three times over from the week before.  Not three times at once, but the first time we were asked to sum up in a word what the Gospel conveyed to us.
It was fascinating hearing other parishioners’ interpretations and views.  I remember thinking about one comment and saying to myself “I’d never thought of that” and it made me think some more.
The second time we read the Gospel we were asked for a feeling or image that it conveyed.
The third time the Gospel was read I realized that perhaps I hadn’t been listening the first time – or was it combining others’ views and hearing it anew?
This time we were asked what we thought God wanted us to do.  A tough question.
During the meeting, when we diverted from the Gospel, it was nice to learn aspects of the lives of the other participants.
Barbara O led the group well and we thank her for thoughtful sessions and the fellowship that went with it.

ABM PEW REFLECTIONS – Sunday February 19, 2017
In the Epistle reading, Paul is charging the Church in Corinth to ensure that they build on the one and only foundation, Jesus Christ (v. 11). In building on the very foundation, care must be exercised by all means. The Church is invited to continue firming her commitment to the very foundation. In the contemporary society, the context from where we operate in proclaiming the gospel, there are so many things that include but are not limited to: secularism, materialism, atheism etc, that seek to shake and if possible replace the very foundation. God forbid!
‘Therefore, brothers and sisters, let us work out our salvation with fear and trembling.’  (Philippians 2:12)

ABM PEW REFLECTIONS – Sunday February 12, 2017
In the Epistle reading, St Paul is creating an environment to correct what is normally known as ‘sibling rivalry.’ Paul equates his ministry with the ministry of Apollos and affirms to the Corinthians that Apollos and Paul were both servants of the Living God and there was no need for the Church to be divided along those lines of one group liking Paul and another liking Apollos. The ministry is one and the owner of the very ministry is none other than God himself. Why are there so many divisions in the Church nowadays? God is calling the Church to heal the wounds and unite people by planting the seed of love.

ABM PEW REFLECTIONS – Sunday February 5, 2017
In the Epistle reading, we see the power of humility. In humility, we reach all people and we can warm their hearts with the good news. St. Paul shows that in his weakness, fear and trembling (verse 3), God connected his spirit with the spirits of the Corinthians. There is power in enriching our emotional connection for in that our hearts will be weaved together for the sake of the gospel.
Pray that God will give us grace to humble ourselves as we bring the good news to the people. Pray that God will give us a new heart and put a new spirit in us; that he may remove from us the heart of stone and give us a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36.26).

ABM PEW REFLECTIONS – Sunday January 22
In the Gospel reading we get to appreciate the fact that Jesus takes the early warning so seriously that when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. His ministry focus was changed to fit the context he was operating from and his focus now was on repentance. From that time Jesus began to proclaim, ‘Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven has come near’ (v. 17). Without changing the gospel message, we need to be sensitive to the context from which we operate as we present the gospel. Jesus started recruiting his disciples for he was preparing for succession and continuity. What is happening around us? What message do we need to present for this generation?
