God is there when you need Him the most! When the world let’s you down, He steps in most clearly.
Sometimes I describe this year as being “born again” because my faith has come alive in a way I never imagined possible. God has truly transformed my life.
Certainly the service was FULL to overflowing with worship, teaching, contemplation, reflection, communion in community and so on, while being held in the traditional framework of an Anglican communion service that, for me, allowed structure within which to be free to let go in God. This was also helped by Heather’s clear guidance along the way.
Last year, I walked away from a marriage that had quietly broken my spirit. Leaving an abusive union was not just a physical separation—it was a tearing away of what I thought my life was meant to be. With courage I didn’t yet know I possessed, I gathered my daughter and moved to Port Melbourne, carrying both grief and hope in equal measure. Not long after we arrived, I found myself walking into Holy Trinity Church. I didn’t know what I was searching for—only that something in me was tired of running, tired of carrying the weight alone.
That first service, I walked out in tears.
Then again the next week.
And again.
Three times I left weeping before I finally stayed.
Something kept calling me back.
And then something extraordinary happened.
It was as if the weight of the world lifted from my shoulders. As if long‑held chains broke and fell away.
As if I had been set free.
I realised that for most of my life, I had been holding God at arm’s length—keeping the door closed, insisting I could manage on my own. And the moment I opened that door, even just a crack, I became filled with the Holy Spirit. Blessing after blessing began to flow into my life—not suddenly, not loudly, but unmistakably.
Just wanted to write to let you know how much I appreciate the Holy Trinity sermon podcast. Between school holidays, viruses and birthday parties on Sundays the kids and I haven’t made it to church much lately and it’s great to be able to listen to the podcast. So thank you for creating it. I also really like the prayer on the blackboard at the moment. It was timely for me this morning.
This is my story of returning—not just to church, but to faith, to freedom, and to myself.
I did not find God again.
He was always there—waiting patiently for me to open the door.
And when I did, He met me with love beyond measure.
When I first walked into Holy Trinity PM I sat down to pray and I felt an overwhelming sense of holiness, that I cried with joy.
I experience God when I enter this Sacred Space and connect with fellow parishioners.
