*** A MESSAGE FROM NOEL ***

“Because we do not know when we can gather for public worship at Holy Trinity again it is crucial that we remain financially secure as there are ongoing costs and expenses to be met despite the lockdowns.

If you are not already on a regular giving plan can I please encourage you to make your collection/giving direct to the parish bank account. The Westpac Banking details are included in the Weekly Parish News.

Not only are there no weekly collections being received, but the Opportunity Shop has been ordered to be closed for the duration of the lockdown as well as no other of the  usual fundraising projects are permitted. Please be generous in your giving to our church in these testing times. I personally use the ADF Direct Giving system of giving to the parish and so set an example.”                                     Noel

MARTIN LUTHER WRITING DURING THE BUBONIC PLAGUE OF THE  1500’s  (Thanks to Deb for forwarding!)

“I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I will fumigate, purify the air, administer medicine and take medicine.  I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order to not become contaminated, and thus perchance inflict and pollute others, and so cause their death as a result of my negligence.  If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me. But, I have done what he has expected of me, and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others.  If my neighbour needs me, however, I shall not avoid person or place but will go freely.  This is a God-fearing faith because it is neither brash nor foolhardy, and does not tempt God.”

FROM BISHOP GENIEVE’S ‘MARMINGATHA – Stories to Inspire’   for the month of September 2021

Prayer:

O God, you know us to be set in the midst of so many and so great dangers that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright: grant to us such strength and protection as may support us in all dangers and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen.

SEPTEMBER: St Luke’s month of fasting and prayer

Father Jon and his staff team at St Luke’s South Melbourne are devoting the month of September to a special time of prayer and fasting.  They have reached out to Holy Trinity to ask if there is anything in particular we would like them to pray for.  This could be a very specific prayer such as prayer for an individual with particular needs, or prayers for situations that are happening throughout Australia and the world.  Please send any prayer requests to Father Noel and he will forward on to St Luke’s.
