THE REVEREND NOEL WHALE

The Reverend Noel Whale is on Annual Leave during July, and today we welcome our locum priest – Bishop David Farrer, formerly Bishop of Wangaratta and a long-standing friend of Noel’s.

CHURCH OPEN

The church will not be open during this week.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Father Andrew Davis from the UK, who celebrated the 50th Anniversary of his Ordination to the Priesthood on 27 June 2021.  Andrew was ordained Priest  by the Bishop of Rochester in the wonderful Rochester Cathedral in Kent England.  Please remember him in your prayers and give thanks for his long ministry.

SEA SUNDAY – 11 July 2021

Next Sunday (July 11) is Sea Sunday, an ‘International Day of Prayer for Seafarers’.  On Sea Sunday churches all over the world come together to remember seafarers and to pray for them, their families and those who support them.

The Mission to Seafarers in Docklands has a vast ministry in working and supporting these seafarers, in areas such as:

  • Transport to and from ships;
  • Assistance when far from home;
  • Supporting hospital visits;
  • Shopping during covid when there has been no shore leave.

For more details about Sea Sunday and how you can support the Mission to Seafarers, please see the notice-board.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE OP-SHOP

If you have some time once a month to help out in the Op-Shop, please contact Jen or Cheryl.

CHURCH GIVING AND THE PARISH FINANCES

Owing to the Covid protocols, the Sunday 10am Service attendance has been slow to recover despite being permitted to have 30 people at worship. As a result the collections have been reduced and the parish finances suffering. Can I encourage our parishioners to contribute on a regular basis by using the banking details below.  Apart from the Op Shop, all of our fundraising efforts have been suspended, so the need is considerable.    Noel
